The nervous system is the totality of all the nervous structures of the human body, which interacts with all other systems of the body. It is necessary for life activities, with any external and internal spheres of habitat.
The nervous system is arranged, in general, as follows: from the head to the toes, it diverges through the human body in thin strings. In fact, the center of the nervous system is located in the head - the brain. It branches out into the spinal cord and throughout the body by nerve fibers. They transmit signals to the brain, while working in conjunction with other systems and parts of the body.
Since the 19th century they have been divided into somatic and vegetative. What functions do they perform. The somatic function of the nervous system, performs the functions of the interaction of the entire human body with the environment. These are musculoskeletal reactions that occur due to skeletal muscle, as well as the perception of the environment. It also provides motor functions for the exteroceptive sensors of the whole organism.
The autonomic function of the nervous system is responsible for the body’s metabolism, blood circulation, respiration, digestion, reproduction and much more. This function also controls not only the internal parts and organs, but also the entire nervous system. This function is divided into two subdivisions, it is parasympathetic and sympathetic. Between themselves, they differ in all their available functions.
In the vegetative function, the reactions of the human body are not controlled and occur arbitrarily, in connection with which they are called - autonomous. But since it is autonomous, this does not mean that it is independent of the cerebral cortex. Also in clinical practice, one can observe malfunctions in the functioning of organs.
It should be noted that all functions are very tightly interconnected. And most importantly, all the interactions of these functions (autonomic, motor, sensory) occur on all so-called “shelves” of the nervous system. This is very necessary for the functioning of organs, while adapting to the internal environment of the body or the external.
The nervous system plays a particularly important role for a person, since when it is disturbed, changes occur, diseases of individual systems and organs in the body. That is why man suffers. Lead a healthy lifestyle and develop the nervous system.
