The agency related to the government of America, carrying out scientific research of outer space in the field of aviation and astronautics, is developing a plan for the first components of the near-moon station as part of a new ambitious project. Their launch is planned in 2022.
NASA's main goal is to host the Lunar Orbital Platform in the most convenient way. This is necessary to ensure fast, and most importantly regular flights from the moon to our planet. It is also important that fuel consumption is as low as possible. This can be achieved by using the attraction of two celestial bodies, which are the moon and the earth.
All calculations are very complicated.
NASA's partner in research is the European Space Agency. Based on the results of the work done, calculations were made, which are called "Almost Direct Halo Orbit." This information was provided by the International Space Research Organization, the European Space Agency.
According to reports, the center of the near-moon station NASA will be one of the points of Lagrange. It is an area where gravity between the Moon and the Earth is mutually equalized. It is worth noting that the halo-orbits passing around the Lagrange points, that is, the region of equalization of attraction.
As a result of the calculations, it becomes clear that the station will carry out its movement along an elongated area around the satellite. Sometimes the station will begin to approach the surface of the territory. The distance will be up to 3 thousand kilometers. Also, the station is moving away from orbit. The distance will be up to seventy thousand kilometers. A full revolution of the station takes approximately seven days.
The created orbit will make it possible to keep the field of view not only of the Earth, but also of the reverse side of the moon. Sometimes, from time to time, there will be a need for adjustment.
